Tell us a little bit about yourself and your current role at VIAVI?
I have been with OCLI, JDSU and now VIAVI for 25 years. When I started, I knew nothing about manufacturing. Through the years with guidance from great mentors, working hard on the manufacturing lines, then to planning and now in Customer Service – I have found where I thrive! I do feel that through all my various experiences, I have been in one way or another serving the customer. One of the areas of work I am most proud of is being a part of our MicroNIR team. I was able to start on this project from the beginning (as a planner) and work with an amazing team. It has been gratifying to see these remarkably innovative products grow and thrive. Now in my Customer Service Professional (CSP) position, I have the opportunity to service our customers with these amazing products.
In a nutshell, my day-to-day job entails working and communicating with many different groups internally to ensure that, ultimately, I am communicating the most updated and timely information to our VIAVI customers. I truly enjoy meeting and working with our customers, as it is important to me that they trust and know they are receiving the best representation!
Tell us about your favorite hobby and what skills or qualities it enables you to bring to your role at VIAVI.
I am a planner at heart and I consider myself a “people person”. I have always been the party, team mom, Booster – even funeral planner! I enjoy the challenge of pulling people together, creating and bringing the appropriate decorations and ideas together to enjoy the end results. That is ultimately “making people happy and pleased” and I leave feeling so incredibly accomplished and satisfied.
Because of enjoying these skills, it has enabled me to keep organized, multi-task and more importantly to be a good communicator, whether it be inside or outside of work. It is nice to love what you do!
