Tell us a little bit about yourself and your current role at VIAVI?
I just recently moved to a new role as a Project Manager for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. My background as an Application Engineer and also my work building best-in-class technical support programs helps me every day. My new position requires me to consistently build and integrate good relationship with our customers, designing an effective plan, and executing what we have committed. A good project manager must be able to clearly explain the goals of the project, each member’s tasks, responsibilities, expectations and lastly it is super important to transmit feedback. If I have to compare my job to a similar job, I would probably say a “marriage counselor.” ?
Every day I work to create confidence and build trust into the way our customers view VIAVI. The end goal is transforming complexity into readability.
Tell us about your favorite hobby and what skills or qualities it enables you to bring to your role at VIAVI.
I was born in Sardinia, an amazing island in the middle of Mediterranean Sea. I spent many summers snorkeling and enjoying the beauty of the underwater world.
Exploring new landscapes and being curious as a default mindset attitude parallels two skills I utilize in my day-to-day Project Manager role at VIAVI. This default mindset came in handy recently when our team dealt with a particularly challenging project with very specific terms and conditions. I helped take the initiative to improve our internal team communications by adding structure, method and due diligence. We transformed what the customer was experiencing and pivoted the direction of the project to where the customer recognized VIAVI’s value and the project is now running flawlessly. If you look at problems like opportunities, every day you can make progress and build an enjoyable career and life!
Name something that VIAVI offers that would be exciting for early-in-career employees.
To me the first thing that comes to mind is VARIETY. At VIAVI, everyone has the opportunity to interact cross-functionally with different departments like sales, marketing and management. I feel like I never get two days in a row that are the same. You will never get bored at this company!
