AI OPS means using AI and Machine Learning for efficient data collection, processing, and selection, to rapidly identify and expose the most relevant information to automate and operate your Telco or IT network.

Here are four reasons why you should consider AI OPS.

1. Correlate and find the relationships between events across the tool stack and other data sources within your network.

Most network operators have made significant investments in disparate tools and “data” solutions across multiple domains. A true AI OPS solution allows them to keep on making a return on investment. This is achieved by:

  • bringing the data and information from tools and systems, and all domains together
  • correlating the disparate sources of data and information, and then
  • providing context and insights that could not be derived independently.

2.  Identify root causes and recurring issues across your environments.

As we move into the new networking era, we deal with multiple environments, where network functions need to perform across different domains such as Mobility, Telco, Cloud, IT, and Edge.

The VIAVI AI Ops solution covers the IT, telco, mobile and edge domains, and can support any existing environment, legacy and emerging systems, be it Cloud hyperscale or on-premises, or physical networks.

3. Get notifications and assign collaboration projects for the appropriate operators and teams.

One of the biggest challenges in network operations is how and when you identify a problem. Sometimes identification maybe isn’t difficult, but the resolution process is key. With many silos within your network operations team, and multiple alarms that may be related to the same issue, but rolling in different domains, things can get complicated. You might have different people trying to address the same problem from a different perspective, but they don’t know that the individual alarms they are addressing are all related to the same issue. It’s about being able to bring that context together to identify how things are related and create an incident that allows one to focus on the single resolution. This minimizes the application of resources and reduces the time to identification or resolution.

4. Automate.

The goal is to get to the dark NOC and for that you need to automate the remediation. An AIOPS platform requires the ability to support Network Orchestration and Automation. To capitalize on the benefits from real-time or near-real time insights and information enabled with a capable AI/ML function, automation is a requirement. Other enhanced capabilities enabled by AI/ML such as capacity forecasting and planning also require automation for the operator to enable use cases that truly deliver the desired value of an AIOPS platform.
