As a leader in test, measurement and assurance of communications networks, VIAVI is actively partnering with communication service providers (CSPs) and their extensive ecosystems to fulfill their customer expectations. Typically, CSPs deploy a wide range of tools to comprehend, manage and optimize their network operations. However, driven by the CSPs’ aspirations to digitalize their end-to-end operations, a tectonic shift is underway. CSPs are now evolving rapidly to harness cloud platforms, open control interfaces and extreme scale-up/scale-down capabilities to control costs and to fully digitalize their operations. Their operational model aspires to span on one end complex customer-premise networks; and on the other, highly efficient domain-based automation built around flexible visibility, data management and insight creation layers. From a visibility perspective, CSPs are now willing to trust self-reporting of network activity through self-sensing rather than deploying a parallel universe of probes and/or sensor stacks to decipher and rebuild the network activity model.

To provide dependable automation services, it is essential that network operations develop and maintain pin-point accurate network inventory and topology. This foundational network intelligence is crucial for AI/ML algorithms to work reliably and deliver automation solutions. So, network operations tools now need to focus on taking self-sensed or third-party data feeds and synthesize them with good network intelligence to enable the next-generation, zero-touch automation.

VIAVI is aligning with this vision through organic solution development as well as acquisitions. Today we are proud to announce we have completed the acquisition of CanGo Networks, based in Chennai, India. CanGo serves CSPs, cloud providers and large enterprises on their journeys of digital transformation towards zero-touch automation.

CanGo is a leader in cloud-native Inventory, Service Topology and real-time 5G Assurance. It offers AI- and ML-driven analytics and network automation solutions. Leveraging CanGo’s OSS suite helps Network Operations, Planning, Optimization and NOC Teams to have the ultimate end-to-end network visibility across cloud, mobility, IT/MEC and IoT platforms. This capability set is an immediate enhancement to the VIAVI Service Enablement portfolio and the NITRO platform.

CanGo’s solution portfolio includes:

  • Unified Network Assurance and Analytics. A unified umbrella management system across various domains of the end-to-end network involving various vendor EMS/NMS Systems. The system provides service providers with a broad view of network performance, inventory, configuration and faults through automated AI/ML-driven event and incident analysis with multi-domain analysis to identify the root cause faster, in turn reducing the Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
  • Unified Network Inventory Management. A multi-vendor, multi-domain and multi-technology inventory management system comprising information on physical, logical and network resources, with real-time data collection and reporting – at scale. The system can integrate with service providers’ inventory and gather all the network details to form a comprehensive visual inventory, building a unified data model by acquiring data from multiple sources of the network system through auto-discovery.
  • End-to-End Network Topology. Enables bridging the silos currently present in the network across multiple domains. It enables visualization of inter-domain connectivity across both the physical as well as the service layers. The network topology superimposes real-time analytics information such as performance, fault, device panel information on top of connectivity to identify the root cause of any network issues.
  • AIOps – Unified Fault Correlation and Incident Classification. Detect the alarms, alarm and event correlation into incidents, isolate and notify only the actionable incidents to Operations for resolution. By analyzing both historic and current alarms, AIOps automatically suggests groupings and correlations, and tags the potential root cause among them. Proactively identify network problems and predict their potential impact on services and enable corrective measures and maintenance planning to prevent future problems.
  • Workflow – Automated Actions and Integration Towards Zero-Touch Automation. Assign workflows to specific incidents or class of incidents for either human-in-the-loop automation or for automated actions and integrations. Integration using TM-Forum standardized APIs with other management systems or executing specific actions to rectify a network or service problem.

CanGo successfully implemented Unified Network Inventory Management at XL Axiata. “We chose CanGo Networks as a partner for digital transformation initiative in 2020 to launch cloud-native, dynamic, accurate E2E network inventory and assurance solution. CanGo Networks implemented their Google Cloud-Native Zeus Inventory, Assurance and Automation Solution in XL Network. CanGo’s E2E Topology helped the Team gain better network insights across XL’s multi-domain and multi-vendor environment. Zeus Mobile App has helped the field operations gain better control over inventory and network operations. With their AudiGo IPAM, easy and efficient IP address allocation and management was possible. Overall, their products helped us to troubleshoot and manage network inventory, improve operational efficiency and achieve 99% inventory accuracy through auto discovery and reconciliation.” said I Gede Darmayusa, Director/Chief Technology Officer at PT. XL Axiata Tbk.

“5G deployments continue at a rapid pace, powering new experiences for users and revenue opportunities for service providers,” said Deepak Shahane, Vice President and General Manager, Service Enablement, VIAVI. “Applications such as Industry 4.0 are going to require innovative, automated and cloud-native assurance and intelligence functions. VIAVI welcomes CanGo as we build on our trusted portfolio of visibility and assurance solutions.”

“To fully realize the potential of 5G, service providers need to unleash dynamic experiences driven by automated network and service management,” said Rohit Batra, head of telecommunications, media & technology product at ServiceNow. “We are excited that VIAVI will be augmenting its offerings as a ServiceNow Technology Partner with next-generation monitoring and assurance, complementing our Telecommunications Service Operations Management platform.”

The terms and conditions of the CanGo acquisition are not being disclosed.
